About Richard Windeyer

Many photographers will tell you that they were born with a camera in their hand and that they were destined to become a photographer. I on the other hand, took a slightly longer path to the world of photography. And while I have photos of myself playing with a camera when I was just eighteen months old, it wasn’t until much later in life that I chose photography as a career path.

On the path that lead me to photography, I have been a teacher, a graphic designer, a manager, an international sales & marketing specialist and finally a photographer. I spent many years working for a software company that produced popular design and photo editing software. As part of my role as Asia Pacific Marketing Manager, I would travel around Asia Pacific, training designers and professional photographers in the finer details of the company’s products. During these travels I would continuously be photographing the sights, primarily to build a portfolio of images to use in product demonstrations. During this time a true passion for photography was developed and an inevitable career change started to evolve.

It has been more than a decade now that I have been fortunate enough to call photography my profession. When I’m not travelling, I also take on commercial projects and for the past few years, I have been trying to give back to the community a little by teaching photography at Kingscliff TAFE college.

I hope you enjoy the images on this site as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Happy travels!

About Travel Image

Sharing my images with the world

Travel Photography has long been a passion of mine, but for the most part, it was just a way for me to unwind. A chance for me to forget about commercial assignments and just shoot for the sheer joy of it.

Over the years I have had requests from family, friends, and associates for copies of my travel images and I love being able to deliver the final products for them to enjoy. This, combined with the fact that my travel images have appeared in around 50 international exhibitions over the past two years, has encouraged me to create a site where I can share my images with the world.

Building an online store such as this is something I have been wanting to do for many years, but just never found the time, until recently when the whole world went into lockdown as a result of COVID-19. There must be some sort of irony in the fact that I had to wait until travel was banned globally before I could build a site for my travel photography. I guess this was my attempt to make something good out of a bad situation.

So here it is, Travel Image, the online store for the images of Windeyer Travel Photography.

Enjoy!
